They have the Vegetarian, Viva!Life and Ethical Consumer magazine donated to them. They are kept in the magazine racks in the bottom floor. Portswood Library (Portswood Rd, Southampton) has the Vegan Magazine. Portsmouth Central Library (Guildhall Square, Portsmouth) has the Vegan Magazine. They have the Vegetarian magazine donated to them. October Books (243 Portswood Rd, Southampton) sell magazines including Lifescape (veggie/organic/fair trade, alternative therapies), The Vegan, Vegan Views and Growing Green International (vegan organic agriculture). Vegfam promotes the advantages of a plant-based diet and lifestyle for feeding the world in an environmentally friendly way. They are a sort of veggie Oxfam. [SVV send regular donations to Vegfam.] Plants for a Future is a resource centre for rare and unusual plants, particularly those which have edible, medicinal or other uses. They practice vegan-organic permaculture with emphasis on creating an ecologically sustainable environment and perennial plants. They have two pieces of land, in Devon and Cornwall, where they demonstrate their agricultural principles and carry out research into interesting plants. VEGA (Vegetarian Economy and Green Agriculture) is a research, information and campaigning organisation focusing on farming, food, health and the land. Vegan Organic Network is a charity that has developed a worldwide membership and aims to promote the growing of food without the use of any animal manures or slaughterhouse by-products whatever and without the use of artificial chemicals or genetically modified material.
